About me
My name is Marlene Chu and I am a 35 year old mom to 2 wonderful little girls. Opening a daycare is something that I knew I would enjoy and excel at. My husband and I have both been active members in our community, having also volunteered at local youth sporting organizations, school functions and community events, where we are interactively involved with children from 4-19 years of age.
Children are a big part of our lives and it would be a privilege to be able to provide a loving home environment for you and your family.

My home daycare utilizes the main floor for snacks and lunches. I have a large fenced in backyard for outside playtime and the entire second floor is dedicated for indoor activities and nap-time. I have tons of different toys, play areas and activities for all the little ones to enjoy inside and out, all day long. We also have a variety of different play centres to choose from, dress up costumes to wear and musical instruments to play with. Toys are also rotated occasionally (especially in the winter months) to keep things new and interesting. We learn through play individually and with each other in group setting with structured activities.
Most of all, we have fun!

Curious Critters is a Pet Friendly Environment

Here at Curious Critters Home Daycare, We have a variety of safe, clean and well mannered animals. Currently we have 1 Cat, 1 Small dog and 1 Turtle. These animals are all currently healthy and are up to date with all required vaccinations.
I would like to encourage all children to have an open mind regarding animals so that they are not afraid of interacting with them at home or away. Being around animals also teaches them how to properly and safely approach and respect animals.
It is possible that your child will have a small amount of interaction with the cats, turtle and the dog. There are schedules for pet week that will involve ‘show & tell’ of the animals. We will discuss the natural habitats, foods and care for animals that are pets. We will occasionally ‘walk the dog’ when going on neighbourhood walks. I have found that pre-schoolers and some toddlers enjoy this 'chore' and it helps them build a sense of responsibility and boosts their self esteem. Your child, if old enough, may want to participate in this activity.
Please be aware that while the above mentioned interactions will take place occasionally the animals are otherwise not permitted in the main play area and sleeping area of the children.
If you decided that you would like to attend Curious Critters Home Daycare then all families must confirm when signing their contract package that they are aware and approve of the above interactions.
Thank you
